This itinerary is the great introduction to the country’s fantastic wildlife and scenic heritage, visiting the rolling grass plains of the Serengeti national park, the ancient baobab trees of Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Travel in the spring time to hopefully catch a glimpse of the Great Wildebeest Migration on their way. Discover the Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is a steep ravine in the Great Rift Valley of Tanzania. It is one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites.
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL DAY
On arrival in Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel by an Landside Adventures representative. There will be a trip briefing at the hotel/Lodge this evening. The rest of the day will be at your leisure. Please note this is an arrival day and there are no excursions planned, so you may arrive at any time.(Distance 51.7 km)

DAY 2 – AFTER BREAKFAST DRIVE TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we will drive to Tarangire National Park with picnic lunch. Tarangire National Park, known for its huge herds of elephants and giraffe as well as a remarkable variety of over 500 bird species.
The Tarangire River and its tributaries provide the only permanent water supply on Maasai land during the dry season, thus supporting a great diversity of wildlife – up to 6,000 elephants, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard and cheetah.
The afternoon game drive is sure to inspire – be sure to capture photos of the park’s gigantic Baobab trees silhouetted against the sky. (Distance 139.3 km)
DAY 3 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast drives to explore fabled Serengeti National Park, stopping en route at the remarkable Olduvai Gorge Museum with its displays of fossils that provide significant evidence of our ancestors almost four million years ago.
Unequalled in its natural beauty and undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, the vast plains of the Serengeti host Africa’s highest concentration of game. Millions of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra gather here for the annual migration, attracting large predators such as lion, leopard, and cheetah.
The first game drive explores the lush Seronera Valley, renowned for its lion and leopard populations, as well as a variety of other wildlife. (Distance 219.7 km)
DAY 4 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK FULL DAY GAME DRIVE, SIMBA KOPJES
After breakfast enjoys a full day of game viewing in the Serengeti, with a picnic lunch.The early morning game drive takes you again into the protected Serengeti refuge. Standing majestically in this vast savannah, outcrops of granite provide a habitat for many creatures because of the thriving vegetation, caves and flowing rivers.
Linger at Simba Kopjes, an inspiration for some of the scenes in the movie The Lion King. After lunch game drives through the Seronera Valley, characterised by its wide open grassy plains incredibly rich in wildlife-studded with weathered rocks and havens of shade and water.
DAY 5 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
The morning is set aside for another game drive in the Serengeti and you might spot some creatures that you haven’t seen yet. Animals tend to be more active in the morning before the temperatures soar around midday.
After lunch, you will leave the plains of the Serengeti and travel to the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. (Distance 113.0 km)
DAY 6 – NGORONGORO CRATER
After breakfast starts exploring the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site. With 30,000 animals in 100 square miles, game viewing is plentiful. Enjoy a picnic lunch.
After lunch return to Arusha town for departure or you may choose to extend your holiday by flying to Zanzibar Island beach for relaxation. (Distance 154.1 km).
